WHAT: World Bird Day
In celebration of World Bird Day, visit Franklin Park Zoo on January 7. From Gouldian finches to Chilean flamingos, dozens of species of birds call the Zoo home. Learn more during zookeeper encounters, where guests are invited to ask their own questions about these amazing winged creatures! There will also be crafts and activities for the kids, and an education station all about birds.

WHAT: Wild about Peacocks
All about our zoo’s peacocks! Learn more about these beautiful birds at the education station and enjoy some peacock crafts and activities. Located in the Tropical Forest across from the sloth exhibit.

10:30 a.m. – 2 p.m.



WHAT: Chinese New Year: Year of the Rooster!
Celebrate the Chinese Zoo year with a special performance and zookeeper encounters. Watch as the Chiu Mo Kwoon School performs a Hung Gar Kung Fu and Lion Dance in front of the Tropical Forest. The Lion Dance is a part of traditional Chinese folklore and culture, and is said to ward away evil spirits and summon luck and fortune. Learn all about the Chinese Zodiac animals and make a rooster themed craft.

WHAT: Tropical Birds
Warm up in the balmy Topical Forest at Franklin Park Zoo as you look to the sky and find what’s flying above you. Special zookeeper encounters will allow you to better see these tropical birds and learn more about them! Discover more about the zoo’s birds at the Education station and enjoy bird themed crafts and activities at the craft table.
