What do Tollhouse cookies, hot fudge sundaes and the first chocolate factory in the United States have in common? They all started out in or near Boston. Join Old Town Trolley Tours for chocolate sampling from culinary landmarks in Boston. The fully narrated, three-hour journey of desserts and fun facts features visits to Top of the Hub Restaurant, The Langham, Boston and more.
The Original Boston Chocolate Tour was featured on “Phantom Gourmet,” “Chronicle” and “TV Diner.” Each tour features a special “Character Chef,” who theatrically imparts sweet wisdom while guiding guests on their flavor-filled journey.
The tour's first stop, Top of the Hub, sits 52 floors up in the Prudential Center in Back Bay. Here, patrons will taste a “chocolate surprise,” while they enjoy the view of the city skyline. The featured dessert changes every week at this award-winning restaurant.
Next up on the tour is Ghirardelli’s in historic Faneuil Hall, where the staff treats patrons to a presentation before providing a towering ice cream sundae covered in their famous chocolate sauce. The grand finale is The Langham Hotel’s Café Fleuri. At this all-you-can-eat buffet, enjoy bittersweet chocolate mousse, Italian cookies, chocolate croissant bread pudding, chocolate maple pecan tartlets, dessert “sushi”, five-spice chocolate soup, white chocolate pudding and other desserts.
As the trolley travels between restaurant locations, tour conductors and the on-board Character Chefs will share chocolate-related local trivia about Boston, Cambridge, Somerville, Dorchester and more. For information: trolleytours.com/boston.
